ECO=ECO

Our cycle ECO = ECO contains simple solutions and hints, what to buy and do in order to live ecologically and economically at the same time. Today we will focus on environmentally friendly household cleaning. We will suggest what substances used in the kitchen, were used by our grandmothers to clean house.

Vinegar
We can find it in every home, it is most often associated with cooking and preserves. However, vinegar is also great as a cleaner. It removes scale, grease, mould and sludge from coffee and tea perfectly. It gives shine while cleaning windows and mirrors. To minimize the smell of vinegar - just add to vinegar few drops of essential oil e.g. tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is a powerful antiseptic. Thanks to it, we will not only get rid of the smell of vinegar, but also bacteria and viruses. Vinegar is also great for cleaning and disinfecting floors.

Citric acid
Citric acid is another multi-purpose cleaner. It is ideal for washing and cleaning. It absorbs odours, but most of all – it removes a scale from household appliances and fittings. Citric acid is our favourite, editorial descaler for a kettle! Just add 2 tablespoons of citric acid into the kettle, pour a glass of water and boil to make our kettle shine like a new one. Remember rinse kettle well before using.

Borax and baking soda
These are other two substances extremely useful in eco cleaning. They can be used to clean the entire house. They can absorb odours perfectly. Soda removes smell of garlic and onion from cutting boards and hands, it softens the water, cleans all kitchen utensils. Borax works well as a bleach, especially in the fight against stains made of wine, coffee and tea as well as a substance deterring wasps, hornets and insects. In order to get rid of stains and whiten fabrics, you can add 1 tablespoon of borax to 4 litres of water and soak things in this solution for half an hour. Then it should be washed. You can also use a second option - pour 0,5 cup of borax into a container with the washing powder and wash things in a washing machine. Borax can remove unpleasant odours perfectly. Add heaped tablespoon of borax to 0,75 litres of water, mix and wash a refrigerator, a dustbin or a cat litter box.

Vegetable soap
Biodegradable and completely harmless, excellent in combination with other agents. It is ideal for cleaning and washing. Vegetable soap and cold water are ideal for washing dishes, e.g. a fish.

Natural essential oils
Its a perfect complement to the natural cleaners. They absorb odours - both in combination with vinegar as well as baking soda or by themselves. In addition, many of them have anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. They are great as air fresheners and perfumes. We especially recommend: laurel, camphor, ginger, lemongrass, sandalwood, tea tree, thyme, orange, lavender, lime and orange.
